Our story began in a rather unconventional way: with a pink, long-lashed Muppet instead of a profile picture. One of us said he worked in real estate; the other immediately asked whether there was a property available for rent, as a friend was looking. The reply came with humor: “I don’t even know if you’re a person—to me you’re just a pink Muppet.”

 

So we decided to meet and see if we were both real. Between a Portuguese lesson and a French class, in a café in central Lisbon — books under our arms, speaking English and trying to figure each other out — curiosity slowly turned into persistence, surprise, and eventually, choice.

 

What was never meant to last more than a month has now lasted eight years — and we continue to choose each other, every single day.
